San Francisco Anniversary Trip August 2002, page 1 of 3
Holiday Inn, Financial District
Wanted to be near Chinatown for the food, and the financial district for the ferry. This place was on the border of Chinatown and the Financial District.
The entire third floor was the Chinese Cultural Center, and the walkway went to a park which was
a common meeting place for locals.
View of room
We usually sleep in separate rooms, but settled for separate beds.
Just kidding, we used one bed for sleep and one for play.
Coit Tower
View from our Hotel window.
It was a clear day and you could see everything around the bay.
Notice Alcatraz Island beyond the tower to the left.
Coit Tower, next day
A fog came in from the Pacific, first covering the Golden Gate Bridge, then covering
the water all the way to the mountains.
Notice Alcatraz is no longer visible.
View from Coit Tower
Looking back to where the two earnier pictures were taken. We walked all the way to Telegraph Hill, and to the tower.
Notice our hotel was between the two tallest buildings in San Francisco,
the Trans America Pyramid and the Bank of America Building.
Stan & Cricket, inside the Tower
It was an exceptional day, warm and clear. We could see everything for miles.
Stan on Terrace
This is a residential area we took a shortcut through.
